Galway Tips: Adrian thinks Mullins horse wins the Guinness Hurdle but which one?

It is Adrian Wall’s favourite week of the year, it is Galway Festival week. He has a tip for every race on the card on Friday and it could be a great day for the Mullins’ crew, not just Willie but Emmet too!

4.00 Galway

Emmet Mullins’ first four runners at Galway this week have resulted in a winner and three places so he is clearly in terrific form and it would be no shock to see money come for Full Aux Rois. This French import had decent form over there for Francois Nicolle in 2018-19 in juvenile hurdle races and although he showed nothing on Irish debut, don’t be surprised if he is a completely different horse now.

4.30 Galway

Shark Hanlon’s Hallowed Star bolted up in a Roscommon maiden hurdle this month which should have him spot on for this assignment. It wasn’t the best jumping performance but he could be very well treated off a mark of 116 and if any rain comes it will only enhance his chances.

5.00 Galway

Arcadian Sunrise won a competitive handicap at Punchestown by six lengths off 124 in May and although he is now 12lb higher in the weights, he should still remain very competitive off this mark. He was given a nice prep for this at the Curragh on the Flat at the end of June (behind Dalton Highway who finished 3rd at Galway on Wednesday) so should arrive here as fit as a fiddle.

5.30 Galway

Willie Mullins has won the Guinness Handicap Hurdle five times since 2013 and Jazzaway is his best hope of a winner this year under the talented claimer Conor McNamara. The mare needed every yard of the trip when a game winner at Punchestown in April and she should be cherry ripe for this now after a short break.

6.05 Galway

Sporting the famous colours of Cheveley Park Stud, Gloire D’athon represents top connections and should go on to have a very successful career over fences. The five-year-old gelding routed the field in a Cork maiden hurdle this month and can progress on to bigger and better things.

6.40 Galway

Battleoverdoyen is a very smart chaser at his best and the two-time Grade 1 winner has every chance in this contest. He bolted up over course and distance in October 2019 and although he disappointed in the Galway Plate, he will be seen to better effect taken out of handicap company here.

7.10 Galway

Shady Operator is a horse who likes to do things from the front end so Galway should suit Enda Bolger’s gelding who ran too free at Ballinrobe in May but was a fine winner at Killarney on his penultimate start. Darragh O’Keeffe has been booked for the ride which is a big plus.

7.45 Galway

Emmet Mullins won this race two years ago with Rocket Lad and has three runners in this year’s race, all with a chance. Lahinch Three could be the one to side with, a Beat Hollow gelding who won his bumper at Kilbeggan in very taking fashion. The form has not worked out well but you can only beat what is put in front of you and he did it very well.
